The Château des Feugerets is located in the communes of Appenai-sous-Bellême and the Chapelle Souef in the Orne (Normandy).
The castle is distinguished by a double inscription: it is listed as a Historic Monument but also listed as a remarkable listed site since 1972.
It has remained in the same family for 5 centuries and the first deed of transfer dates from 2018 for our acquisition, it is a real family castle.
Fief known since 1396, then in the hands of Gervais Feugerets, lawyer to the Count of Perche, the castle had a certain renown in the 17th century when the Marquis des Feugerets, who was colonel of a regiment bearing his name, was appointed governor of the town and castle Bellême by letters patent of Louis XIV in 1682.
It remains from the 16th century the square keep, a large round tower with machicolation, a turret with gunnery. Converted into a stately castle in the 17th century with pavilions on a sleeping bridge, a quarter-circle connecting body with imperial-style roofs with slate roofs, the Feugerets fiefdom is marked by the rise of its owners, Thus Aimery des Feugerets, master of the hunts, can be proud to receive there several times the great Dauphin son of Louis XIV and grandfather of Louis XV, at the time when the terrace with its stone balusters and the horseshoe shaped high step overlooking the farmyard were laid out. A cartel and a portrait offered by Louis of France have long decorated a living room while many paintings attributed to the court painter Mignard were commissioned for the castle.
Established in the county of Perche as early as the 14th century, of non-chivalrous but bourgeois extraction (Gervais Feugerets is a graduate in law and tax lawyer of Perche in 1398), the Feugerets family worked for Perche for several centuries.
Louis des Feugerets " knight of the king's order, is an ordinary gentleman of the chamber of Henri IV in 1590, he participates in the king's campaigns (siege of Dreux and Laon then Amiens), he is exempted from the ban and back ban, document of 1597 kept in the keep.
Lancelot des Feugerets was adviser and maître d'hôtel to King Louis XIII in 1642.
Aimery des Feugerets was appointed captain of the Perch hunts in 1678 and then by letters patent of Louis XIV of 6 April 1682 governor of the town and the castle of Bellême.

Louis de France, known as the Grand Dauphin, son of Louis XIV and grandfather of Louis XV donated a portrait and a cartel following his visits to the castle.
The court painter Pierre Mignard, several of whose works have been preserved in the château, was also one of the regulars of the place.

The castle has lacked maintenance and part of the outbuildings are in a state of imminent peril.
The pigeon loft collapsed the night after the signing of the sale like a stroke of fate!
Numerous works have enabled the castle to face the years to come (roofing) but also to give it back some lustre (repair of the large lounge in progress). On the other hand, the communal areas and the dovecote require complete renovation or even reconstruction.
A through crack threatens to collapse the west wing of the commons, while the pigeon loft continues its slow erosion due to lack of safeguards.
Minimum target: €5,000. This sum will enable us to finance a stabilization of the through crack which threatens to collapse the entire west wing of the outbuildings and the dovecote (rebuilding of the masonry in small rubble stones and lime plastering around the main crack).
If this goal is achieved:
- Stage 2: 10 000 €, which will enable us to finance the reinforcement of the ground (filling of an old pit under the crack and earthworks to stabilise the foundations).
- Tier 3: €15,000, which will enable us to finance chains to ensure the stability of the walls of the west wing pavilion.
Your donations will be used to pay the communication costs, Dartagnan's commission and also the counterparty fees.
Your contribution to the project will complement the subsidies granted by the Monuments Historiques and the Conseil Général de l'Orne.
We are a young couple who love old stones and are devoted to the maintenance and preservation of historical buildings. We each have a professional activity in other sectors and sacrifice our weekends and holidays to the preservation of our heritage.
With a certain experience and know-how, we have already renovated and sometimes listed the castles of Chesne (18), Amblans (70), Ecot la Combe (52) and Rimaucourt (52) in the MH.
Most of the work is carried out by us or with the help of small companies.
