PROJECT PRESENTATION :
The NOSTRADAMUS EN ALETH FESTIVAL will take place Saturday 11 September 2021.
This festival, organised by our Association Nostradamus en Aleth, will highlight the remarkable talents of Michel de Nostredame – known as NOSTRADAMUS – and will delve into his family origins from Occitanie and his ancestors who lived in ALET LES BAINS
Jacqueline ALLEMAND, renowned specialist and previous curator of the Nostradamus museum in Salon de Provence, is patron of the festival. The day will seek to sort fact from fiction concerning the multiple interpretations and popularized versions of the famous Nostradamus prophecies – many of which stray far from the intended meanings.
We invite the public to get to know NOSTRADAMUS, an extraordinary man who was a doctor, astronomer, writer, prophet and humanist and who received recognition from royal and imperial families throughout Europe.
Because of the wide-spread fame of NOSTRADAMUS, our festival looks forward to welcoming not only a French audience but also those coming from many parts of the world to the heart of Occitanie to learn more about this illustrious figure. The festival will be a day of intercultural and inter-generational interaction, exchange and sharing of knowledge.
The Festival includes a programme with events which will appeal to everyone - here are some highlights :
- Inauguration and official grand opening to the public of the Nostradamus House in Alet-Les-Bains for the very first time.
- Conferences about the multiple facets of Nostradamus’ life: Astronomy, Literature, Herbology… and also to help separate fact from fiction and debunk the “fake news” surrounding Nostradamus and his prophecies
- Performing Arts and story-telling in the streets of the medieval city.
- Exploration of the Nostradamus Renaissance Garden.
- Multi-sensory exhibitions about the Renaissance and Nostradamus’ life and work.
- Astronomy workshops and activities for children.
- Guided tours, Escape Games and Treasure Hunts
- Projection under the stars of the 1994 Nostradamus movie.
- Gastronomy
And plenty of other surprises to discover!
€5000 Raised – this amount will fund the evening of CINEMA UNDER THE STARS with a showing of the film "NOSTRADAMUS" by Roger Christian, starring Tchéky KARYO in the role of NOSTRADAMUS. The film will be projected in the beautiful and majestic ruins of the Abbey of Nostre-Dame d’Alet. It will be a thrilling event in a magnificent setting.
If this first threshold is reached :
Step 2 - €10,000 raised– This will fund the design and creation of the NOSTRADAMUS garden which will be created thanks to your support in the style and according to the designs of the 16th century and the French Renaissance. It will be planted with both culinary and medicinal plants and will become a centre of discovery and learning for both young and old – an opportunity to pass on the science and knowledge of the period.
Step 3 - €20,000 raised - This will fund the decoration and activities of the medieval centre of Alet les Bains, spiritual capital which was originally named ELECTENSIS – the chosen place. There will be live street performances, historical figures in authentic period costumes, performing arts, story-tellers, musicians – an opportunity for virtual time-travel.
The association NOSTRADAMUS EN ALETH is a non-profit organisation and was created on 15/02/2021
Objectives of the association : Developing learning and sharing knowledge of culture, history, architecture, astronomy, well-being, balance and harmony of mind and body – all to honour the spirit of NOSTRADAMUS and the town of ALET LES BAINS – birth-place of the ancestors of Michel de Nostredame whose influence spreads throughout Occitanie and Provence and whose fame is international.
The president of our association is Bernadette ESPEUT, and our co-founder and spokesperson is Richard AUDABRAM owner of the MAISON DE NOSTRADAMUS on the main square of the town of ALET LES BAINS. This house has been lovingly restored and will be open to the public for the very first time on 11 September 2021. Our association has 26 active members who dedicate their time and energy to revitalise this ancient spiritual capital and its cultural influence which once spread throughout Occitanie and even beyond the Pyrenees to Catalonia.

For donations from French tax residents :
Your donation is tax deductible as long as it meets the terms and conditions of articles 200 and 238b of the French Tax Regulations. Once the fund-raising has finished you will receive a tax receipt allowing you to claim a tax deduction.
- For individuals : A tax deduction of 66 % of the amount donated, not to exceed 20 % of your taxable income (as per article 200 of the French Tax regulations). If this 20 % is exceeded the deduction can be carried over the following 5 years.
- For businesses: the tax deduction is :
The annual amount of donations subject to said tax deduction is €20,000 or 0.5 % of the turnover (before taxes) if the amount is greater than this sum. Should this ceiling be exceeded, it is possible to carry the tax benefit over the following five years.
