La Chartreuse du Liget en Musiques is a former Carthusian monastery in the heart of Southern Touraine - 7km from Loches - built successively in the 9th, 12th and 17th centuries.
the historic site of the Chartreuse du Liget has radiated for more than five centuries.
Yet it is one of the most secret sites in Touraine...
It is listed as a historic monument because it is considered to be the only building of its kind preserved in what is now the Central Region.
"The Chartreuse du Liget is the witness of a history of faith and light that ended in the destruction of the post-revolutionary period...the Chartreuse du Liget has gradually recovered thanks to the care of its owners. Today, the spirit of its fathers can still be felt in its courtyards and walls surrounded by the forest" H.de Chivray
The vastness of the site provides an ideal sounding board for music.
The Festival inaugurates the main barn transformed into a concert hall.

In summer, the south of Touraine lacks a prestigious festival of classical and contemporary music. Here, we take up the challenge of inaugurating and anchoring the festival for a long time.
"La Chartreuse du Liget en Musiques - Hier & Aujourd'hui" in the heart of the Chartreuse du Liget - an emblematic site in the southern Touraine region which has established itself thanks to its magic as the right place to welcome music, artists and a new public. Our motivation met that of its owner Etienne Arnould.
The creation at the Chartreuse du liget of this new annual music festival is a chance for Heritage, Music and artists, the promise of a new dynamic for the south Lochois.
To associate music from the repertoire and contemporary music and to conjugate generations of artists.
Le Patrimoine welcomes Music and finds a new dynamic.

The Chartreuse du Liget is an emblematic site in the region; its natural beauty and poetry triggered the desire to install a festival of contemporary and classical music during the summer. Our motivation met that of its owner Etienne Arnould. Combine Heritage and Music.
2020 should have been the year of the festival's creation but the pandemic stopped the adventure. Long live 2021! The creation of a festival is a challenge because a lot of helpers intervene only after 3 years of existence. We are supported by the community of communes and the tourist office of south Lochois, the department and the region. We fundamentally need the support of donors to make this ambitious project a reality. 8 remarkable musicians will inaugurate the first edition of the festival.
Funds raised will be useful for the entire production of the festival.
