The associative project is based on openness (the place must be a space for meetings and discoveries), on the proposal to link didactic exchanges and development of knowledge, on the desire to attract people from outside our region and to create a real synergy.
The proposal of the association "Château de Casseneuil" is to make available French heritage archives that refer to the life and work of a philosopher, Mr Gurdjieff, and to the acquisition of knowledge based on music, philosophy and rare works. We are working on the creation of a place open to the public within the castle walls, with museum rooms, work spaces, a space dedicated to conferences, seminars, workshops and music. This place will be accessible to all.
GURDJIEFF was born in 1877 in Alexandropol in the province of Kars in Armenia to an Armenian mother and a Greek father.
All his life, in the heart of distant lands and sometimes at the risk of his life, he sought the mysteries of the human psyche.
During the second part of his life, he tried to transmit to the West what he had discovered by bequeathing us a prodigious teaching of Tradition.
Writing works, transmitting a whole corpus of movements and choreographies, and being accompanied by musicians renowned for their music ... he gave us the keys to understanding this hitherto unknown teaching, the way to work on oneself and the urgent need to put Man back at the centre of everything, at the heart of the future of Humanity.
Gurdjieff lived part of his life in France where he rests, having left us in 1949.
We have set the first level at €8400, which will enable us to finance the supports for the presentation and protection of the archives.
If this goal is achieved:
- We are planning a second stage at 15400€, which will enable us to finance the preservation of unique magnetic tapes (44 reels dating from the 1930s) on which Gurdjieff played his improvisations and to exhibit them in a specially designed showcase.
- We are planning a third tier at €21400, which will enable us to finance the purchase and installation of protective equipment (video surveillance) and video conferencing.
