Our farm is located in a village of Essonne, near Paris (Saint Escobille). This territory is one of the last exclusively agricultural of the Paris basin.
We realize, the work in the old sheepfolds of the farm, identified as a "remarkable architecture". This space has been unoccupied for almost 20 years and the structure begins to suffer from a certain obsolescence.
The sheepfolds have a typical architecture of Beauce at the end of the 19th century.
We note the presence:
💚 a square courtyard
💚 Brick and stone buildings
💚 Square doors
💚 Narrow windows
💚 A roof with beams
💚 Standard dimensions (8 meters wide)
Since the 19th century, the sheepfolds have had many assignments. The buildings have accompanied the development of the agricultural world and rural landscapes.
Originally, sheepfolds housed sheep. Upstairs, there was animal feed.
In the 1970s, agriculture on the island of France evolved. Mechanization and post-war productivism have replaced animals. These have disappeared from the farm. The buildings have become an unassigned place.
In 1980, the sheepfolds were transformed into storage space for grains. Part of the floor was dismantled for the occasion.
Since the 2000s, this place is no longer usable because it no longer meets the needs and standards (doors are too small to pass agricultural machinery, grain storage capacity is low, safety at work there is no guarantee, there is a health risk for grains, etc.).
In 2019, the rest of the floor was removed because of its dangerousness.
We have developed a rural and territorial project to defend a welcoming, inclusive and modern agriculture.
We want to write a new page in the history of these remarkable sheepfolds and thus continue the adventure!
Why this project?
The farm no longer has the financial means to protect its heritage. If a disaster happens, we will not be able to do the work.
Also, Thibault and I (Eudes) are convinced that French agriculture is poorly known. That's why we want to create an inclusive, welcoming place to live and serve a societal cause
What does "from fork to solidarity" mean?
We decided to create a sector "from the fork to solidarity" to share values of solidarity by helping to reintegrate the military.
"From the fork": because we will produce and guide our agronomic behavior in more sustainable practices and respectful of the environment. We will, for example, increase the biodiversity of our crop rotation and further reduce our chemical inputs, etc. "
"à": After production, the sector will include processing and sale on the farm. We will transform in our mill, oil mill and laboratory the productions of our farm. These products will be marketed in short circuits and locally to have the least environmental impact. Thanks to the creation of an educational farm, we wish to convey to the guests the love of the land and farm products!
"Solidarity": We hope that our sector will help soldiers in professional reconversion. For this, we will offer training within our structure, pay a portion of the profits. A museum and exhibition halls will be created in order to pay tribute to the military dead for France and the artists of the armies!
It seemed obvious to us to bring together "agriculture" and "army" because we have been involved for many years in associations of "Youth", "memory" and in the reserve citizen with the Military Governor of Paris.
Finally, despite a link rooted in the history of France, between the two subjects, no one presents these two themes while they meet societal needs!
In conclusion, we want to return to the Earth, what the earth gives us!
Our objectives for his work are:
✔👍 Each volume is studied to lower the environmental impact
✔👍 The history of the place is preserved and there is authenticity
✔👍 The different flows are reflected in order to anticipate a change in activities
✔👍 The regulation of EPR locations (public area) is respected:
💚 Arrangement of traffic for people with reduced mobility.
💚 Landscaping for energy savings
✔👍 The tranquility of the neighborhood and the municipality is guaranteed
Work plan?
On the ground floor we create a laboratory of transformation and spaces of place of life and the reception on the farm. We keep existing openings and premises modernized simply.
On the 1st floor we create a museum dedicated to the local heroes of South Essonne / Beauce having a link with the rural world (For example the poet Alfred de Vigny, the resistant Louis Moreau, Colonel Arnaud Beltrame, etc) and a showroom reserved for the works of art of military retraining.
Outside the premises, we will develop a car park over 60 meters long, an aromatic garden and a educational farm for all.
What is the urgency?
In 2019, if we do nothing, the sheepfolds identified as "remarkable architecture" will fall into ruins because of the fragility of the beams. Currently 4 beams are identified as fragile and 1 beam has to be consolidated by a forestay. Structural expertise indicated that there was a need for a metal reinforcement around the beams.
The collection meets the objectives:
- Ensure access to people with reduced mobility on the farm
- Offer to people with disabilities the welcome
The cost of setting up accessibility, the development of fully equipped premises for people with reduced mobility is estimated at 50 000 € (Installation of an elevator, creation of a paved path for people with reduced mobility, creation of marking on the ground for the visually impaired, etc.).
The project in level:
- Stage 1: 4000 €, makes it possible to finance the marking on the ground of the visually impaired people
If this goal is achieved:
- Stage 2: € 15,000, to finance the installation of an elevator
- Tier 3: 35,000 €, allows to finance levels 1 and 2 and the paved path for people with reduced mobility
- Tier 4: € 50,000, makes it possible to finance the entirety of the landings and to realize other devices of reception of the handicapped persons
